Learning teams are often handed three names and asked which speaking tool to buy. Elqo, Yoodli, and Orai do different jobs. Elqo is an enterprise practice layer: it turns the training an organisation already has into voice practice and scores comprehension for managers. Yoodli and Orai coach an individual speaker, in a meeting or on a phone.
This comparison is for the people who buy that capability: L&D managers, coaching institutions, and education or career-centre leads. The organisation is the customer. The useful test is whether people practice your material and a manager can see comprehension, or whether each person is sent off to polish their own delivery.
What each product is for
Elqo
Elqo sits on top of training you already run. A programme owner brings the module, the talk track, the coaching curriculum, or the question set. People practice out loud against that material. Managers receive a comprehension score, so a completion tick is no longer the only record that learning happened.
Someone can finish a course and still be unable to explain it in a client conversation, a classroom, or a coaching session. Speaking the material, and scoring whether the explanation covered it, is a different result from watching another video. We describe that difference in The Comprehension Gap.
Access is provisioned by the organisation. The price is a custom quote based on seat cap and monthly active users: an agreed cap on seats, and how many of those people practice in a month. A buyer books a demo to scope the programme.
Yoodli
Yoodli is a speaking-analytics product. It measures pace, filler words, word choice, and the balance between monologue and dialogue. Its distinctive capability is the link to Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet, so a person can review how they spoke in a real meeting rather than in a separate rehearsal.
The product is built around the individual session. The free plan is capped at five lifetime roleplays, and paid plans start at about $20 a month. Yoodli does not take a company's curriculum and return a comprehension score to an L&D manager. It also does not report visual delivery such as eye contact or posture.
Orai
Orai is a mobile speaking coach. A person opens the app, speaks to a prompt or talks freely, and receives a basic score for energy, pacing, and conciseness. The path is short, which suits someone who wants a private drill on a phone.
The analysis is lighter than Yoodli's meeting report, and the practice is not tied to an employer's or a college's own content. Paid access is typically about $10 to $15 a month, depending on the app store and region. That price belongs to Orai, for an individual.

Which buyer each product fits
Elqo, when the organisation owns the content
- L&D and enablement teams who need a cohort to practice a talk track, a policy, or an onboarding module the company already teaches, and who need a manager to see whether people can explain it.
- Coaching institutions who want clients rehearsing the institution's own method, with a record the coach can review. The curriculum stays theirs. See Elqo for coaching institutions.
- Career centres and education teams who provision practice for a cohort. The institution holds the agreement. See interview practice for career centres.
A sales enablement lead can see this clearly. Reps complete the module, then tell three different versions of the pricing story. Elqo has them speak the talk track. The score shows whether the required points were covered.
Yoodli, when the job is meeting analytics
- People who want a report on how they spoke in Zoom, Teams, or Meet.
- Teams whose question is verbal habit in live calls, and who already have another way to teach content.
Orai, when one person wants a phone drill
- Someone practicing alone, with a short score for energy and pace.
- A personal habit, rather than a programme a manager has to report on.

Book a demoHow a learning team should decide
Ask what the purchase has to prove. If an employee wants feedback on their own meetings, Yoodli is built for that. If they want a lighter personal drill, Orai is built for that. If the organisation needs people to rehearse its own training, and a manager needs to see comprehension, that is Elqo.
Deliberate-practice research supports the split. Work associated with Anders Ericsson describes skill as something that changes when people rehearse a defined task and get feedback on that task. A generic speaking score can help a person notice pace. It does not tell you whether they can explain your product, your policy, or your method. The task has to be your task.
A personal speaking app fits when one person wants feedback on their own delivery. Elqo fits when the organisation needs its own training practiced and scored, including when the learners are students and the buyer is a career centre. For live meeting cues, see Elqo and Poised. For deck rehearsal, see presentation practice for L&D.
